Air Strippers

One of the most economical means of removing contaminants from water is through the process of air stripping. Basically, the stripping process involves using a high volume of forced air flow through the water stream to volatilize the contaminants and then discharge the air. The same techniques used in scrubbing, but reversed, are used in stripping. The technique involves passing the contaminated water down through a packing media, which randomly disperses the water over the entire area of the stripper, air is forced upward as the water travels downward, and through the constant contact with air the contaminants are volatilized and then discharged upward.

The most important factors in successful air stripping are proper air flow and the packing media. In order to remove the contaminants effectively, the water stream must be exposed to an extremely high volume of clean air. Not only must the air volume be high but also the air must be properly dispersed throughout the area of the stripping tower. The air and water dispersion is dictated by the type of packing material used within the tower. Indusco Environmental Services Inc. selects the fan and packing for each application individually. We perform calculations on different types, sizes and configurations to select the packing with the best removal efficiency while having an acceptable pressure drop across the bed. If air stripping is required for your application, we have the knowledge and experience to design and provide the best equipment for your individual needs.
